March Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

It's been a fantastic few weeks at school, and I'm excited to share some of our latest news and upcoming events as we head towards Easter. Before I begin, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our JustGiving page in support of our staff members running the Harborough Carnival 10K in June. Initially, we set a goal of raising £250 for new sports equipment, such as footballs and gym mats, but thanks to your incredible generosity, we quickly had to increase our target to £500. A few days ago, we reached this goal - an achievement that will make a huge difference to PE lessons moving forward.

At the start of March, Otters and Badgers had the fantastic opportunity to take part in free ‘Football and Fitness’ sessions during the school day. I'm pleased to say that the same company will be running a football club after Easter – keep an eye out for details from the school office.

Our Pancake Day menu was a real hit with the children, perfectly timed as Gemma, our new LTS chef, settled into her role. She has been building wonderful relationships with the children, and I’m delighted to say that the standard of school dinners is back to an all-time high.

World Book Day was another highlight this month, with an amazing effort from both children and staff. The creativity in costumes was incredible! It was brilliant to see the children sharing their favourite books with each other and enjoying story time with different members of staff throughout the day. Thank you to everyone for making it such a special celebration of reading.

We have continued to welcome lots of prospective families for September 2025 and fully expect to have a full class of Fox Cubs next year – a fantastic reflection of our growing school community.

Our non-uniform day for Red Nose Day raised an amazing £83! Thank you to everyone who contributed. Your donations will support Comic Relief, a charity that helps tackle poverty and injustice in the UK and around the world.

A huge well done to our Year 3/4 tag rugby team, who demonstrated brilliant sportsmanship at their recent tournament in Market Harborough. A special mention to Louis and Artie (both in Year 1!), who stepped up on the day due to illness in the team and impressed everyone with their determination and competitiveness. A fantastic achievement!

Looking ahead, we hope you can join us for Otters' class assembly on Friday 28th March, where the children will be sharing all about their exciting trip to ROCK UK. On Friday 4th April, the whole school will be taking part in first aid workshops, kindly funded by our FSA. That evening, many of us are looking forward to the FSA Quiz Night in the school hall.
