It could almost have been spring today, as it was so sunny and warm and a welcome break from all the rain. We carried on with the bird song quiz. They found the robin very easy to identify, as well as the woodpigeon, blue tit, crow and magpie. There were 20 birds in all. We talked about why robins are much easier to identify because of their red breast and boldness. I also played them a recording of the dawn chorus to see if they could recognise any of the song and they got two out of the three: a robin and blue tit. We then started to look at how to visually identify birds in anticipation of bird bingo after half-term. It was lovely to see the snowdrops out in the nature area; spring is on its way.
