Dear Parents & Carers,

As we head into the final stretch of the academic year, I am delighted to share some recent highlights and important upcoming events with you.

First and foremost, I am incredibly proud of our Year 6 students who completed their SATs last week. Their hard work and dedication were truly commendable. We will receive and share the results on Tuesday 9th July, the last day of term. With SATs now behind us, Year 6 can focus on rehearsals for their end-of-year production and enjoy all the usual summer term activities.

Last week, Mrs Bellamy and Mrs Foster hosted their annual 'Meet the Teacher' event for our new Fox Cub families. It was fantastic to meet so many new parents, welcome them to Foxton, and share in the excitement of our journey together.

A big thank you to everyone for your support on 'Census Day' last week. Our meal numbers were at a record high, which will significantly help our funding for the school kitchen going forward.

The highlight of the month so far has to be our Summer Dancing celebration last Friday afternoon. For those who joined us, it was a treat to enjoy the sunshine and Maypole dances performed by every class. The Year 6 Leavers' Dance was absolutely phenomenal, and we hope you enjoyed spending the afternoon with us. Thank you to the FSA for providing a delicious range of cakes and refreshments in the outdoor classroom. It was a truly successful event in every way.

Earlier this week, several children from Key Stage 2 represented #TeamFoxton in the annual Saffron Lane Small Schools' Championship. Competing in events such as the Howler Throw, Long Jump, sprints, and long-distance running, every child did themselves and our school proud. We are still awaiting the final standings, but based on the number of events we won and placed in the top three, it appears to have been a very positive outcome. Thanks to all who participated.

We are excited to welcome families into school for an open afternoon on Wednesday 19th June at 2:30 pm. If you would like to attend, please arrive via the school office where you will be directed to your child's class, which may be indoors or outdoors, weather dependent. You will have the opportunity to join in with an activity they are engaged in. We hope this will be a lovely opportunity for you to experience a typical afternoon at Foxton alongside your child and their teacher.

Plans to convert to academy status and join Symphony Learning Trust are well underway. Having received our Academy Order from the Regional Advisory Board, we are on track for a 1st September 2024 conversion. This is an exciting time for our school, as we will become part of a strong and successful network of schools, offering support as needed. Since January, our staff have been attending regular network meetings within Symphony, and the feedback and impact in school have been very positive.

Finally, if you haven't already, please check out our YouTube channel to watch the latest clips of this year's badger cubs in the forest school. They are simply adorable.
